What is a promise?
NOUN an undertaking to do or keep from doing something; expectation, or that which raises expectation; a ground for hope of future excellence; fulfilment of what is promised (rare).

VERB TRANSITIVE: to undertake by promise to do, give, etc; to betroth; to encourage to expect; to give reason to expect; to assure; to undertake to bestow.
